Select Board · Meeting of November 2, 2026

Springfield's Finance Committee began planning a working group to spend a $1.7 million cannabis stabilization fund. The committee chair said the ordinance sends 33 percent of the 3 percent retail marijuana tax to the fund, down from 50 percent under a January 2019 agreement, and that it builds up roughly $500,000 a year. She floated allocating 80 percent annually, with 30 percent to youth programs and 20 percent to behavioral health.

Stephen Howard asked whether some of the money could go to property tax relief; the chair said it would amount to about "$15" per bill. A neighborhood access program could potentially be ready by January 2027. No votes were taken.
