SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield City Council's General Government Subcommittee pressed election officials over a 477-vote discrepancy from the 2025 municipal election. Election Commissioner Gladys told councilors an IT error caused the city's website to show all 73 of 73 precincts reporting all night, when three precincts, roughly 460 votes, had not actually been uploaded; a certified count a month later showed 13,100 votes versus 12,623 reported election night. Subcommittee chair Justin Hurst said "I've never seen that ever in my life." City Council President Whitfield and Councilor Victor Davila noted candidates were never notified, and that the state's 10-day deadline to request a recount had already passed by the time the error surfaced.
No formal votes were taken on the matter.
