SPRINGFIELD — The Audit Committee subcommittee heard the Office of Internal Audit's six fiscal year 2027 goals. The internal auditor asked councilors to return risk intake forms so concerns can feed the audit plan, which goes to the Audit Committee in early April and then to the full council for final approval. The office's fraud hotline, run by outside vendor Centrion Lighthouse, receives 15 to 21 allegations a year, and the auditor said "a few" prove accurate.
Staff time is targeted at 50 percent audits, 20 percent hotline and investigations, and 30 percent administration and training. The auditor said the three-person office is comfortable in size, compared with five auditors in Hartford, Connecticut, and that a follow-up fleet audit is due in the spring.
