Springfield's Audit Subcommittee heard high-risk findings on the Sodexo school food contract. Auditor No of the Office of Internal Audits told the panel the contract was worth about $30 million in fiscal 2025, with a $1.5 million management fee. He flagged possible double billing of roughly $489,000 a year in local salaries, an unpaid $300,000 contribution to the Culinary and Nutrition Center, and $8 million in umbrella coverage against a required $10 million.
A school official said an overcharge of about $38,000 was already recovered. Councilor Govan called the possible "double dipping" "very concerning." The subcommittee took no vote except to adjourn, and the chair planned another meeting next week.
