SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield City Council subcommittee kept a private-property food truck ordinance in committee after a public hearing. Chris Signoli presented the draft, which proposed a $450 permit for the first six months and $150 for each renewal, against $225 for three months on public property. Fines would be $100 per incident, paid by the property owner.
Councilor Martin asked for more time, and Councilor Walsh said she could not support the draft as written. Vendor Anthony Vasquez, who runs four trucks on Boston Road, said restrictions would be "like kicking us out of town." Signoli said he wanted applications open by April, and the chair's motion to keep the item in committee passed by voice vote.
