Springfield subcommittee unanimously advances Landrieu to Water and Sewer Commission
Town Board · Meeting of July 23, 2026
Springfield council subcommittee unanimously advances Maddie Landrieu to the Water and Sewer Commission. The General Government subcommittee voted without dissent at its July 23 noon session to send Landrieu's appointment to the full City Council for confirmation. Landrieu, a community partnership manager at MassMutual who oversees the MassMutual Foundation's Springfield grant-making portfolio, would replace outgoing commissioner Vanessa Otero.
Josh Schimmel, representing the commission, called her "a really good fit" and "great community person." The subcommittee chair pressed Landrieu on a decade of rising water rates, to which she replied, "I'm not going to sit on the board without asking the why." Councilor Davila moved to advance the nomination; Councilor Martin seconded.
