Select Board · Meeting of March 2, 2026

SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield council finance subcommittee sent the school food service contract to committee and approved the rest of its agenda. Ward 8 Councilor Data Gobind led the meeting. Members approved a $500,000 free cash transfer for snow removal, a $1.2 million bond order for heat pump planning at five elementary schools, and a $4,725,776 two-year Health Services for the Homeless grant.

Councilors raised complaints about cold, unappealing school meals, and a presenter said the contract is "a one-year contract with four options to renew." The current contract expires June 30. The panel also heard of a $30,000 Carnegie Foundation gift to the library, with $10,000 for each of three Carnegie-built buildings.
