School Committee 2026-06-18 Part 2 · Meeting of June 18, 2026

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield School Committee voted 5-0 to enter executive session and negotiate successor contracts with four employee unions. The closed-door session, authorized under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30A, Section 21A3, covers bargaining strategy for public health nurses represented by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1459 (contract term July 2025 to June 2028), school bus monitors and crossing guards represented by the National Association of Government Employees (terms running through June 2029), and the Springfield Administrators Association. Members Valentin, Crawford, Hearst, Vice Chair Nailer and Mayor Sarno voted yes on both roll calls; members Gomez and Gresham were absent for both votes.

The committee voted not to reconvene in open session, meaning no further public business was taken at the meeting.
