Other Committee · Meeting of October 15, 2026

Springfield's Animal Control Board declared two pit bulls dangerous after they killed a neighbor's puppy, splitting 3-1 in one of five dog-complaint hearings held October 15. Neighbor Kayleen Whitaker said owner Phoebe Kilpatrick's dogs broke through a fence twice, first in April and again August 14, the second time killing her miniature Aussiedoodle: "My puppy was a love member of our family." Board members Melvin Edwards, Officer Flemmons and Camille Nelson voted the dogs dangerous; Megan Laundrie dissented. The board separately deemed the dogs owned by Michael Amoa, Johanna Jimenez and Crystal Lamb nuisances, imposing confinement and licensing conditions, while continuing a fifth case involving a dog seized in a house fire now tied to a pending criminal cruelty prosecution against owner Brianna Rogers.
