Conservation · Meeting of January 27, 2026

Springfield's Conservation Commission voted 6-0 to clear paving of the Blunt Park track. Stephanie McDonald, representing the city, proposed a half inch of asphalt top course over a half inch of binder within the existing footprint, with about 225 square feet in the 50-foot no-disturb buffer and just under 7,500 square feet in the 100-foot buffer. One commissioner said "the public benefit outweighs" the added imperviousness.

The commission asked a staff member named Adam to inspect the silt fence before the next phase. It also voted 6-0 to support a $37,000 trail project on the former Delta property and heard that state agricultural officials may seek to treat conservation land for spotted lanternfly at no cost to the city.
