License Commission · Meeting of June 10, 2026
SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield License Commission approved a new all-alcoholic license for a downtown nightclub, backing 2 a.m. hours over a neighborhood group's objection. Commissioners voted 4-1 to grant the license for Family Market Group Inc.'s Boca Bar and Lounge at 90 Worthington Street, with Jose Tomas Almonte as manager; Commissioner Cade dissented. Attorney Daniel Kelly argued a midnight or 1 a.m. closing, as the Metro Center Business Association requested, would make the business unprofitable, saying it would be open "for a blink of an eye." The board also continued, 5-0, a previously approved license for District Fusion Table after Boston regulators flagged undisclosed convictions for owner Will Quarterman, who called it "our third time before this board." A new Azul Agave restaurant license was continued 4-1 to June 24 pending Planning Board action, and commissioners dismissed, 5-0, a complaint tied to a March shooting outside the now-closed Lemoore bar on Chestnut Street.
